Glastonbury Festival bans plastic bottles, promotes reusable options to reduce waste.
by Techno TV - May 4, 2019
Certainly, Glastonbury Festival has taken significant strides towards reducing plastic waste and promoting eco-friendly practices among its attendees. While festivalgoers won't face restrictions on bringing plastic bottles onto the site, the festival management is actively encouraging everyone to adopt a more sustainable approach by bringing reusable water bottles. In a bid to tackle the plastic problem, backstage, production, catering, and dressing room areas will not be supplied with single-use plastic bottles.
The festival grounds will feature multiple strategically placed water taps, providing attendees with convenient opportunities to refill their reusable bottles. Moreover, each bar within the festival premises will offer free drinking water, ensuring that everyone has easy access to hydration without resorting to single-use plastic containers.
Emily Eavis, the co-organizer of the festival and the daughter of its founder, Michael Eavis, emphasized the collective responsibility in the fight against plastic pollution. She stressed the significance of these steps, acknowledging the enormity of the task at hand. By encouraging festival attendees to embrace reusable options and providing ample water refill stations, Glastonbury Festival aims to set an example for sustainable event practices while highlighting the urgent need to curb plastic consumption.
