Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano made headlines when he became the first person to DJ in space while aboard the International Space Station. Using a DJing app on a tablet, Parmitano played energetic trance tunes, captivating viewers with his performance. The remarkable moment was captured on camera, showing Parmitano immersed in the music as he floated gracefully in the microgravity environment of the space station.
This groundbreaking DJ set was part of the BigCityBeats’ World Club Dome (WCD) series, a renowned electronic dance music event. Parmitano's music was beamed via satellite to the WCD's four-day cruise, which was taking place in the Mediterranean Sea near Ibiza at the time. The event marked a unique fusion of music, technology, and space exploration, demonstrating the power of music to transcend earthly boundaries and reach new horizons, even in the vastness of space.
