Zürich has acknowledged 'techno-culture' as an integral component of its UNESCO-recognized 'intangible cultural heritage'.

"The development of techno culture in Zürich, with the Street Parade and a very distinctive club scene, lends Zürich a young, open, hedonistic and international reputation," explained Walter Leimgruber, a cultural studies professor at Basel University and a member of the steering committee involved in the UNESCO selections, speaking to Limmattaler Zeitung.
This decision recognizes the significance of dance music in Zürich, although it does not entail any new laws, financial support, or tax benefits. (In contrast, venues like Berghain in Berlin received substantial tax breaks after being recognized as culturally valuable spaces alongside theaters and museums.)
According to the UNESCO website, granting items the status of "intangible cultural heritage" aims "to assist Member States in their efforts to safeguard the world’s cultural diversity in an ever-changing international landscape."
Switzerland saw 35 new additions to the list, primarily focusing on urban traditions.
