Berlin's club scene is set to collaborate closely with political leaders to enhance the overall nightlife experience in the city.

by Techno TV - March 14, 2019

Berlin has long been acknowledged for its vibrant nightlife, and the local government has taken steps to preserve and foster its growth. A recent initiative, led by the German NGO Friends of the Earth Germany and the organization clubliebe e.V., is encouraging Berlin's nightclubs to take the lead in making the city carbon neutral by 2050.

Politicians recognize the influential role of Berlin's clubs, not just in music but also in shaping lifestyle trends. Green Party representative Georg Kössler stated, "Berlin clubs are trendsetters... we can really reach a lot of people by working with the clubs and making them greener."

The sustainability project, funded by the Berlin Senate, offers guidance to nightclubs on adopting eco-friendly practices such as energy-efficient lighting, cooling and heating systems, water conservation, and improved waste management.

This initiative serves as a model for other cities, demonstrating the potential impact of collaboration between nightlife establishments and policymakers in promoting sustainable practices.
